Dry eyes occur when the amount or quality of tears produced by the eye is insufficient to keep the eyes lubricated and comfortable. Common causes of dry eyes include aging, environmental factors such as windy or dry climates, and certain medications. Additionally, people who suffer from skin conditions such as rosacea are more prone to developing chronic dry eyes due to irritated and inflamed eyelids.

A healthy tear contains a balance of naturally produced water, oil, and mucus, which allows the tear to properly hydrate the eye. If not enough of the oil layer is produced by the Meibomian gland, patients may begin to experience dry eye syndrome. Our dry eye treatment aims to revitalize the Meibomian gland’s function and restore healthy lubrication and hydration to the patient’s eyes.
